Known for his dynamic portrayals of Canadian wildlife, Peter Sawatzky’s breathtaking sculptures have brought to life the spirit, strength, and beauty of the natural world – to a place not far from his hometown, the Brandon Riverbank.

“To become a true wildlife artist, one must spend the time outdoors studying and photographing wildlife within their environment,” said Sawatzky, an internationally-renowned bronze sculptor from Glenboro, Man. “It is only here that you will get to really understand your subject.”

Centered by the iconic Caribou Gateway Plaza, the Sawatzky Park – which has several sculptures and continues to see more added – is expected to become an internationally recognized artistic, cultural and environmental destination, says Dean Hammond, executive director of the Brandon Riverbank.

“This project has been 10 years in the making and we’re thrilled to see it coming to life. Having Peter’s works on our grounds will no doubt transform Brandon Riverbank into a destination which rivals the best outdoor public spaces in Canada, a space that our community can be extremely proud of.”
